The Court of Appeal has upheld the life sentence imposed on a man convicted of sexually abusing his granddaughter and nephew. In its decision, Ms Justice Isobel Kennedy described the offending as “violent, degrading and humiliating”.
The original trial also resulted in convictions against the man’s three sons for offences against four family members who were children at the time. The Court of Appeal report identifies the man as having been jailed for life after what the sentencing judge called a remorseless campaign of rape.
