A court in Wicklow has heard that a man accused of a stabbing in Bray last summer arrived by e-bike and allegedly cut his leg multiple times.

Eoghan O’Connell (36), of Dargle Heights, Bray, Co Wicklow, appeared via video link before a sitting of Bray District Court.

Mr O’Connell is charged with one count of assault causing harm.

It is alleged by the prosecution that, in the early hours of August 31, 2025, two men became involved in an argument with the victim on Dublin Road, Bray.

It is further alleged that Mr O’Connell was contacted by one of the two men.

He is accused of arriving at the scene on the back of an e-bike before stabbing the injured party in the leg several times.

Two other men were arrested in connection with the alleged assault but have since been released, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The court heard that the defendant’s current solicitor is coming off record.

Legal aid was transferred to Brendan Maloney of Brendan Maloney & Company Solicitors.

Directions from the DPP were made pre-entry against the State, with the court hearing that they must be available at the next hearing.

Mr O’Connell is due back before Bray District Court on March 2.
