A Bray man, who is currently serving a prison sentence for drug dealing, is due to return to Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court later this year to be given a sentencing date for his role in the incident that led to the death of William Moorehouse.

Sean McCann (23), of Wolfe Tone Square North, Bray, Co Wicklow, is due to appear before Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court on October 6.

He has pleaded guilty to one count of producing a pole capable of inflicting serious injury during the course of a dispute or fight arising from the incident, which occurred on January 19, 2025, at Ballywaltrim Sports Centre in Bray.

It is further alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, the convicted drug dealer, acting with others, used or threatened to use unlawful violence, or engaged in conduct that would have caused people present at the scene to fear for their own safety.

Mr McCann is currently serving a two-year prison sentence, after being convicted of possessing cannabis for sale or supply at his home address.

On April 6, 2023, gardaí uncovered more than €16,000 worth of cannabis and €3,170 in cash, which was deemed to be the proceeds of crime.

While on bail, gardaí searched the accused’s home address again, with Detective Aisling Kelly telling Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court in early 2025 that €3,824 worth of drugs, including cocaine, was discovered, along with various pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Mr McCann is one of four men to have pleaded guilty for their roles in the incident that led to the death of Mr Moorehouse.
