Coffey Construction wins injunction over Athenry blockade

By Orla Quinn

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Coffey Construction Limited secured a temporary High Court injunction over an alleged blockade of its Athenry headquarters on 8 November 2019. Mr Justice Tony O’Connor granted the order on an ex-parte basis, with only one side represented. It restrains receiver David O’Connor and his agents from restricting the company’s access to the property at Moanbaun, Athenry.

The dispute arose over the company’s lease of the premises. The High Court heard that security guards and vehicles had blocked access, and counsel said the blockade prevented vehicular access. Coffey Construction maintained the blockade was unlawful. The case was due back before the court the following week.
