Ben Gilroy denies contempt over stud farm trespass

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Ben Gilroy denied contempt of court allegations before the High Court on 1 November 2013, after his arrest over alleged trespass and interference with receivers at Kennycourt Stud, Brannockstown, Naas. The proceedings concerned claims that he breached orders restraining interference with the receivers’ control of the Co Kildare land.

Gilroy disputed the service of the contempt proceedings and agreed, without prejudice to his denial, not to trespass on the lands or interfere with the receivers. The judge adjourned the application to commit him to prison until 15 November 2013 and directed him to file replying affidavits within two weeks.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
