Badri Khvedelidze’s murder trial reached final arguments at the Central Criminal Court, reported on 2 November 2015. He has pleaded not guilty to murdering fellow Georgian George Tkeshelashvili at Westward Court, Tralee, on 15 October 2005. The jury was due to begin deliberations the following day after Justice Isobel Kennedy completed her summing-up.
The prosecution relied on evidence from Givi Verdzeuli, while defence counsel Kerida Naidoo argued that the witness was unreliable and that another witness had not identified Mr Khvedelidze. The jury was told it could return a verdict of murder, manslaughter or not guilty.
