Áras Attracta nurses' abuse inquiry completed by HSE

The HSE said the Áras Attracta staff investigation had been completed, reported on 3 October 2020, with its draft report under review. The process concerned allegations that care-home residents in Swinford, Co Mayo, had been mistreated by staff.

The five psychiatric nurses had previously secured High Court injunctions restraining an earlier disciplinary process, after the court found that established procedures had not been followed. A new Trust in Care investigation began in May 2016.

The HSE did not say when the report would be finalised. Nine workers remained suspended on full pay, while two nurses were separately pursuing High Court personal-injury cases against the HSE.
