Aoife Bennett secured permission to add the HPRA as a defendant in her High Court swine flu vaccine case on 5 October 2017. She claims receiving Pandemrix caused narcolepsy, cataplexy disorder and fainting fits.
The case is one of about 70 brought against the Minister for Health, the HSE and GSK Biologicals over the vaccine. The HPRA, formerly the Irish Medicines Board, has said in correspondence that it will not admit culpability.
The application followed examination of about 4,500 documents discovered by GSK, including safety data concerning Pandemrix and the similar Arepanrix vaccine.
