Anthony Buck's murder conviction appeal rejected by Supreme Court

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Anthony Buck's bid to challenge his murder conviction was rejected by the Supreme Court on 24 April 2020.

Buck was convicted of murdering David Nugent in the grounds of St Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, between 11pm on 8 July and 1pm on 9 July 1996.

The five-judge court ruled that his application raised no new or newly discovered facts capable of supporting a miscarriage-of-justice claim. It struck out the application because it had no reasonable prospect of succeeding.
