Alison Walsh wins €3,000 disability discrimination award

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Alison Walsh won €3,000 after the Workplace Relations Commission upheld her disability discrimination complaint against Emerald Park in a decision published on 9 May 2023.

The complaint arose after the park refused her a ride assistance pass without medical documentation. Walsh said her disability severely impaired her ability to queue and that she relied on mobility aids during a family visit in September 2021, when the park traded as Tayto Park.

The WRC found the pass policy unreasonable and inflexible. It ordered Ashbourne Visitor Centre Limited, trading as Emerald Park, to pay the compensation.
