Alessandra Quinn was awarded €21,793 for unfair dismissal by the Workplace Relations Commission, reported on 17 November 2022.

Quinn had worked as a housekeeper for the Embassy of Brazil since November 2001 and was dismissed on 27 July 2021 after talks over the loss of accommodation and commuting expenses failed.

The adjudicator found nothing put forward by the embassy justified the dismissal and said there was a near absence of fair procedures. The award was equivalent to seven months’ pay, taking account of Quinn finding alternative work seven months after her dismissal.
