Alan Shatter told the Disclosures Tribunal at Dublin Castle about a sexual allegation involving Sgt Maurice McCabe, reported on 17 May 2018.

Shatter said former garda commissioner Martin Callinan told him the allegation had been investigated and there was no basis for prosecution. He said the conversation took place by phone in June 2013 and that Callinan suggested McCabe may have been upset by how the matter was handled.

Shatter also told the tribunal that he had not been told the allegation involved another member’s child, and said Callinan had not suggested McCabe was malicious or seeking revenge.
