Alan Cawley has pleaded not guilty to murdering two brothers at the Central Criminal Court, reported on 20 July 2017.
The killings occurred at the brothers' home on New Antrim Street, Castlebar, on 10 July 2013.
Forensic psychiatrist Dr Brenda Wright told the court that voluntary intoxication led Cawley to act impulsively and violently, while she said he had no mental disorder in law.
Cawley admitted killing Thomas Blaine and John (Jack) Blaine, but the defence argued that mental disorders had diminished his responsibility. Closing speeches were due to be heard on Friday.
