AGSI seeks court order over Garda work rostering

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) began High Court proceedings against the Garda Commissioner over proposed work rosters, reported on 21 March 2023.

The association says the proposed arrangements could affect members’ health, safety and family lives. It asked the court to prevent the Commissioner from imposing a new roster without agreement and to require internal dispute procedures to be exhausted before referral to the Workplace Relations Commission.

On 21 March 2023, Mr Justice Brian O’Moore granted AGSI permission to serve short notice of the injunction proceedings on the Commissioner. The case was listed to return the following week.
