Aer Lingus pilot Declan McCabe’s complaints against Aer Lingus Ltd continued at the Workplace Relations Commission, where he is challenging his demotion from captain to first officer and the disciplinary findings arising from an 8 June 2023 flight incident. The proceedings were reported on 25 June 2026.
The complaints are brought under the Protected Disclosures Act 2014, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Payment of Wages Act 1991. McCabe says he had authority to decide that no safety report was warranted and claims he was targeted for whistleblowing. Captain Eamon Kierans stood over the disciplinary findings and sanction, while the report said the pilots’ cases were due to continue in 2026.
