Aer Lingus pilot completes evidence in WRC case as closing arguments await

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Tom O’Riordan has completed his evidence in his Workplace Relations Commission case against Aer Lingus, where he is pursuing complaints including whistleblower penalisation, unfair dismissal and non-payment of wages. The WRC adjourned after his evidence and gave the airline’s legal team a week to decide whether to call further evidence about its sick pay scheme before closing arguments, expected in December.

The case concerns O’Riordan’s claims about alleged toxic fumes on a 2023 flight and his subsequent dismissal over social media posts about the issue. Aer Lingus denies that crew or passengers were put at risk. The tribunal has not yet issued an outcome on O’Riordan’s complaints.
