Spinning tyres on sandy beaches, serving wine without a licence and ‘acting the goat’ on Goat Street were amongst the cases heard in the January sitting at Dingle District Court on Friday.

Angelo Nicosia of Clough, Rockchapel, Co Cork was fined €650 after pleading guilty for serving wine without the required licence on July 8, 2025 at Little Italy on Orchard Lane, Dingle. It was noted he had applied for a licence in April 2025 and had cooperated with authorities.

Abdulsalam Salam of Chapel Place, Chapel Lane, Killarney was fined €400 after he “did wilfully or carelessly manage a vehicle” on Inch Beach at 1pm on July 12, 2025. The court heard his tyres were spitting sand. He was apologetic. “It’s not the first or second of these cases,” said Judge David Waters.

Luka Dilici (28) of Dingle Marina Cottages, The Wood, Dingle was fined €500 for possession of cannabis for sale and supply on October 24, 2024, taking into account charges for possession of controlled drugs. He was also charged with possession of cannabis and cocaine. It was his first offence, the court was told. Mr Dilici had subsequently moved back to his family home in Tralee, said his solicitor.

John Moore (42) of Ballyhea, Dingle was fined €300 for public intoxication after he was found “staggering” and “highly intoxicated” on Goat Street on Halloween last year. “It could be said he was acting the goat,” said his solicitor Padraig O’Connell. “He apologises.”

Lukas Ciudor (22) of Ard Na Si, Garrynadur, Lispole was disqualified and fined for driving without insurance on January 1, 2025 at The Tracks in Dingle and May 14, 2025 at Slea Head Drive, the Wood, Dingle.

Sgt Manton noted the vehicles were owned by different friends. “It raises the issue” of the owner’s responsibility,” said the judge. “If he’s using it with the owner’s permission, the owner has committed an offence.”

His solicitor, Pat Mann, noted that on one occasion, Mr Ciudov misread the policy understanding that licenced drivers were covered but did not realize it was for drivers age 25 and older. He noted his client lived in a rural, isolated area and had relied heavily on his licence.

Mr Ciudov was fined €350 with a two-year disqualification for the January 1 offence and fined €350 with a four-year disqualification for the May 14 offence.

“The penalty that’s compulsory is sufficient,” said the judge.
