A 34-year-old woman is set to stand trial at the Central Criminal Court charged with impeding the apprehension or prosecution of a man in connection with a death in Co. Cavan nearly four years ago. The accused is alleged to have placed a cord around the neck of a deceased person at The Old Post, Main Street, Kilnaleck, on or about 27 or 28 June 2014, with the purpose of simulating suicide. She entered a plea of not guilty on arraignment. Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy empanelled a jury of twelve to hear the case, which is expected to run for approximately two weeks.
