The case centres on a loan and an argument about the EURIBOR interest rate.

The Supreme Court has refused Brendan Dowling leave to appeal in a loan case brought by ACC Loan Management Limited. The determination was delivered on 6 October 2015.

ACC sought summary judgment to recover a loan. The High Court ruled that a plenary hearing should take place, because of an issue about how interest was calculated.

ACC appealed. In a judgment on 28 April 2015, the Court of Appeal did not accept Mr Dowling's arguments. They were based on the EURIBOR interest rate, which he said had been manipulated by a group of banks.

Mr Dowling represented himself in applying to the Supreme Court. ACC opposed the application.

The court said his points were not of general public importance. It said his claims about the interests of justice were too general.

It described his request as speculation that something might turn up at a plenary hearing. It refused leave.
