Four Male Youths Arrested Following Managed Containment Operation in County Cork - 25th August 2026

On 25 August 2026, Gardaí in County Cork conducted a managed containment operation following a vehicle pursuit in the Begooly area. At approximately 2:30am, a vehicle failed to stop when approached by Gardaí from Kinsale and struck a patrol car before fleeing. A coordinated response involving local and divisional units, including the ASU, was launched. The vehicle was stopped near Ballinhassig Village shortly before 3am after a stinger device was placed across the road. Four male youths, three aged in their mid-teens and one aged 19, were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. The recovered vehicle, a stolen BMW X5, was seized for examination. No injuries were reported, and investigations are ongoing.
