Fraud trial hears of guilty plea by Custom House Capital CEO

On the eleventh day of the fraud trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, the jury heard that the former chief executive of Custom House Capital and three others have entered guilty pleas to charges arising from a garda investigation. Harry Cassidy, aged sixty-seven, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud investors and clients between October 2008 and July 2011. John Whyte, Paul Lavery of Ballinode, County Monaghan, and non-executive director John Mulholland also entered guilty pleas to related charges. Mulholland additionally pleaded guilty to one count of director neglect. The defendant in the trial, Ciara Kelleher, has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defraud. Garda witnesses gave evidence regarding arrest procedures and the investigation, which involved retrieving approximately 2.5 million objects from a server. The trial continues before Judge Orla Crowe and jury.
