A Dublin man has received a fully suspended four-year sentence after pleading guilty to his role as an inside man in a €50,000 theft from a casino in August 2018. David Wright, aged 36, of Allenton Way, Tallaght, provided information about cash deliveries to the Fitzwilliam Card Club on Mount Street Upper, Dublin 2, enabling a robbery in which he did not physically participate. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Pauline Codd described Wright's actions as a significant breach of trust, noting he allowed his employer to be "fed to the wolves" rather than warning them of the planned raid. She acknowledged Wright's cooperation with gardaí, his remorse, and his efforts at rehabilitation since the offence, alongside the passage of time. Wright was ordered to pay €3,000 in restitution. Gardaí identified two vehicles used in the robbery, one registered to Wright, through CCTV and banking investigations. No other prosecutions have followed, and the stolen money remains unrecovered.
