A 24-year-old woman from Letterkenny, County Donegal, has been sentenced to 20 months imprisonment for her involvement in a violent taxi hijacking in Crumlin, Dublin, on 6 May 2019. Nikkita Brogan pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to unlawful seizure of a vehicle. During the incident, she released the taxi driver's seatbelt to enable two men to remove him from the cab and subsequently assisted in reattaching the gearstick knob as they attempted to restart the vehicle. The 60-year-old driver was assaulted during the hijacking. Two brothers, Peter and Jason Collins, were previously sentenced in December 2019 for their roles in the robbery and assault. Judge Melanie Greally imposed a 32-month sentence on Brogan, suspending the final 12 months on condition. The judge acknowledged Brogan's expressions of remorse and her rehabilitation efforts while in custody since January 2021.
