A jury at the Central Criminal Court has suspended deliberations in the trial of a British man accused of murdering Irish boxing champion Kevin Sheehy. The panel of ten jurors spent two hours considering their verdict on Friday before adjourning until Monday morning. The accused, a 31-year-old from Coventry, England, denies murder but has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with Mr Sheehy's death on Hyde Road in Limerick city on 1 July 2019. The 20-year-old boxing champion died from multiple injuries, including a catastrophic skull fracture, after being repeatedly struck by a Mitsubishi jeep. In her charge to the jury, the judge instructed them to consider whether provocation was a factor, which could reduce the charge from murder to manslaughter. The accused also faces a separate charge of dangerous driving contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997, which he denies.
