Lunney trial hears of alleged contact with Cyril McGuinness phone

The Special Criminal Court heard evidence of mobile phone contacts the prosecution alleges were connected to the abduction and assault of businessman Kevin Lunney in September 2019. An Garda Síochána intelligence analyst Edel Hannigan presented charts detailing calls between phones attributed to the three accused men and one belonging to Cyril McGuinness, whom the State alleges organised the offence. McGuinness's phone contacted a number associated with Luke O'Reilly multiple times in the weeks preceding the incident, with significant activity recorded on the day of the abduction near Ballinagh, County Cavan. Alan O'Brien, Darren Redmond, and Luke O'Reilly have each pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm. The trial continues before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and two other judges at the Special Criminal Court.
