Lunney trial hears of alleged 'preparatory' trip

At the Special Criminal Court in Dublin, prosecutors presented evidence that one of three men accused of assaulting Quinn Industrial Holdings director Kevin Lunney made a journey to Cavan on September 16, 2019, which the State characterises as preparatory to the following day's alleged abduction. Detective Garda Alan Jones described tracking the accused man from Store Street garda station to a Renault Kangoo van, which prosecutors allege transported suspects between Dublin and Cavan on both dates. The court heard evidence of extensive CCTV surveillance gathered from toll booths, garages, and private premises. Alan O'Brien, Darren Redmond, and Luke O'Reilly, along with a man known as YZ, have each pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm at Ballinagh, County Cavan on September 17, 2019. The defence is challenging the admissibility of CCTV evidence and mobile phone data. The trial continues before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and two other judges.
