A 62-year-old man from County Armagh has been remanded in custody pending sentence at the Special Criminal Court following admissions to assault and false imprisonment at a Dublin apartment complex in June 2015. The defendant, known as "The Border Fox", told gardaí he had been employed by businessman Jim Mansfield Junior to carry out an eviction at The Towers in Saggart. The court heard that the defendant and others forced entry to the property, assaulted two men, and confined members of a family before gardaí arrived at the scene. CCTV footage showed the defendant kicking one of the assault victims. He presented himself voluntarily to gardaí in January 2018 with legal representation and has cooperated with investigations. The three-judge court heard mitigation arguments emphasising his guilty plea, remorse, and thirteen years of employment since his 2008 release. However, Mr Justice Tony Hunt indicated that a custodial sentence was the likely outcome. Sentencing has been adjourned to 11 April.
