A witness in a murder trial at the Central Criminal Court has testified that she feared for her family's safety following repeated attacks on their apartment in Longford. Sanita Rozkalna gave evidence on the third day of proceedings against Rihards Lavickis, aged 26, originally from Latvia and resident at Annaly Court, Longford. He is charged with murdering Akadiusz Czajkowski on 1st November 2016 at Townspark in the town. Lavickis has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter. Ms Rozkalna told the court that windows in the shared apartment had been smashed approximately five times before the killing. She stated she called gardaí twice on the morning of the incident as she believed someone was attempting to break in and felt her life and her child's were in danger. The trial continues before Mr Justice Michael White.
