A garda giving evidence at the Central Criminal Court murder trial in Dublin heard the accused man say he would "get the fella" responsible for smashing his front window, just hours before a fatal stabbing occurred in Longford town. Garda Daniel Lynch responded to a report of criminal damage at a property in Annaly Court on 1st November 2016 at 9.10am. The defendant, Rihards Lavickis, then identified the person he believed responsible for the broken window. Within two hours, Garda Lynch was called to Longford Shopping Centre, where a man was found with stab wounds. The victim, Akadiusz Czajkowski, died in hospital. Mr Lavickis, originally from Latvia, stands charged with murder but has pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a plea the State rejected. His trial before Mr Justice Michael White continues with a jury of twelve.
