A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody pending sentencing at the Special Criminal Court following his admission to facilitating the murder of David Douglas in Dublin in July 2016. Nathan Foley, with an address in Maryland, Dublin 8, pleaded guilty to participating in activity intending to facilitate a serious offence by a criminal organisation. The court heard that Foley acted as a "foot soldier" and driver, operating one of four vehicles used on the day of the killing. Mr Douglas, aged 55, was shot six times at Shoestown on Bridgefoot Street on the afternoon of 1 July 2016. Evidence established that Foley drove a Mitsubishi Mirage, liaised with other participants, and assisted in the organised response after the killing. His defence emphasised his peripheral role, limited intellectual capacity, and vulnerability to influence. The presiding judge acknowledged Foley's junior status within the operation whilst noting his active participation. Foley was remanded until 25 January for sentencing. A separate conviction for Mr Douglas's murder was secured earlier this year.
