Two men have been sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court following their guilty pleas to attempted robbery at a pharmacy in Kilbarrack on January 26, 2018. Brendan Raynor, aged 30, of Tulip Court, Darndale and Dean Slattery, aged 28, of Briarfield Grove, Kilbarrack armed themselves with knives and entered Greendale Pharmacy with their faces concealed. Gardaí conducting surveillance in the area responded immediately, entering the shop as the raid unfolded. During the incident, Slattery confronted a detective sergeant, who deployed his baton. Raynor fled the premises but was apprehended in a nearby field shortly after. One staff member present that day was six months pregnant. Judge Melanie Greally sentenced Raynor to five years with the final two years and nine months suspended. Slattery received four and a half years with the final 18 months suspended. The court heard both men had significant criminal histories spanning robbery, drug offences, and other serious matters.
