74-year-old man charged in connection with killing of M15 spy is granted bail

A 74-year-old man has been granted bail by the Special Criminal Court following his arrest in County Donegal on charges relating to the 2006 killing of Denis Donaldson, a Sinn Féin member and alleged MI5 agent. The accused, with an address in Glasgow, Scotland, is charged with withholding information concerning another person's involvement in Mr Donaldson's unlawful killing at Cloghercor, County Donegal, and failing without reasonable excuse to disclose that information to gardaí. The alleged offence occurred between April 2006 and July this year. The Special Criminal Court imposed strict bail conditions, including surrender of travel documents, residence in County Donegal, weekly sign-on at Letterkenny Garda Station, and a nightly curfew. He was released on his own bond of €6,600 and two independent sureties. The case is listed for mention on 26 October.
