A High Court decision on Mark Nash's application to transfer to Arbour Hill prison was expected on Wednesday, the President of the High Court was informed. Nash, who is serving a life sentence for murders committed in Roscommon in 1997, received an additional life sentence in April after conviction for two further murders at a Dublin sheltered housing facility in the same year. Following his remand to Mountjoy Prison, Nash sought transfer back to Arbour Hill, where he had previously served fifteen years, citing concerns about his safety and conditions. The Irish Prison Service initially refused the application. Nash subsequently launched High Court proceedings challenging the refusal. The State indicated the request was under reconsideration by senior prison officials. Mr Justice Kearns adjourned the matter to Wednesday, noting that if the application was refused again, the case would proceed to full hearing. The court was also informed Nash is currently hospitalised.
