Mark Nash, a convicted double murderer, has been hospitalised following concerns about his health after ceasing food intake, the High Court was told on Friday. Nash is serving a life sentence imposed in April for the 1997 murders of two women at sheltered housing in Grangegorman, Dublin. He is also serving a separate life sentence for murders committed in Ballintober, County Roscommon in the same year. The court heard Nash had concealed that he had not eaten since June 9th, despite being placed under special observation in mid-July. A psychiatric report indicated he poses a suicide risk. Nash's legal team sought his transfer from Mountjoy Prison to Arbour Hill, where he had previously served fifteen years without incident. The Irish Prison Service is reconsidering the application in light of the new circumstances. Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns adjourned the matter to Tuesday to allow authorities time to assess the case further.
