A witness told the Central Criminal Court that a half-naked teenager arrived at his kitchen window in Castlebar on the morning of 9 March 2011, covered in cuts and scratches. The young man, later identified as Celyn Eadon, then aged 22, claimed he had been abducted by aliens and stated that he had stabbed his mother. The witness provided him with tea, a cigarette, and a jacket before contacting gardaí. Eadon is charged with murdering his mother, Noreen Kelly, aged 46, who died from multiple stab wounds at their home in Derrycrieve, Islandeady. He has admitted manslaughter but pleaded not guilty to murder. A psychiatrist who examined Eadon later that day testified that the accused reported memory loss regarding events between 5pm the previous evening and his arrest, and attributed his actions to polysubstance abuse. The trial before Mr Justice Paul Carney continues.
