A Polish national pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the murder of a Romanian man in Co. Cavan in October 2012. Przemyslaw Trebacz, aged 35, of Bramble Rise, Killynebber, is accused of fatally stabbing Costel Catalin Cretu, aged 38, at Connolly Court, Connolly Street, Cavan between 13 and 14 October 2012. He has pleaded guilty to criminal damage relating to a door at the same location on 13 October 2012. The court heard that two witnesses will not give evidence in the trial. Gardaí told the court that one woman's whereabouts remain unknown, whilst another witness is unlikely to appear. A garda described finding the victim on a couch with a stab wound to his chest upon arrival at the apartment. CCTV footage from the date in question was viewed by the jury. The trial is due to resume following an adjournment.
