At the Central Criminal Court, a 35-year-old Polish national pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 38-year-old Romanian man at Connolly Court in Cavan between 13 and 14 October 2012. The accused has pleaded guilty to criminal damage in relation to a door at the same location. A taxi driver gave evidence that he transported the accused and two other men on the night in question. The witness recalled hearing the accused use the phrase "Soviet attack" during the journey and observed what appeared to be a weapon. He stated that after the men exited the vehicle near the apartment complex, he heard threatening remarks from one of the passengers. The witness said he subsequently learned of a stabbing at the location and contacted gardaí the following day, providing them with relevant addresses from that evening. His evidence is continuing.
