A woman giving evidence at the Central Criminal Court has described witnessing the stabbing of her partner during an incident at an apartment in Cavan in October 2012. Przemyslaw Trebacz, aged 35, of Bramble Rise, Killynebber, Cavan has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Costel Catalin Cretu, aged 38, at Connolly Court, Connolly Street, Cavan between 13 and 14 October 2012. The defendant has pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a door at the same location on 13 October 2012. The witness told prosecuting counsel that two men forced their way into the apartment, with the taller man stabbing her partner with a knife and subsequently taking money from the premises. She stated that the attacker held a knife to her throat whilst demanding money and that her partner was unresponsive after the incident. The court heard that gardaí were unable to trace a second woman who was present at the apartment. Cross-examination of the witness is scheduled to continue.
