On the agenda at South West LAC, 28 Sep: Halt the works at Barrett's Cross pending a design review, and meet residents, the Lehenaghmore Residents Group and councillors, Cllr Albert Deasy. Cork City Council, Full Council agenda, 14 Sep 2026, p.21

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Make Knockfree Avenue a no-through 'quiet road' with bollarded build-outs and a gap for cyclists, saving the trees and about €1.8m, Cllr Paudie Dineen. Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.6

Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.25

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Asked whether removing the mature trees on Knockfree Avenue is really necessary, given the alternative designs put forward, Cllr John Sheehan. Council reply: Yes, to meet road design standards; a shared-space layout would not fit and would fall short of those standards. Replacement planting will follow, as on other schemes.

Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.22

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Work with the Spirit of Mother Jones Festival Committee on a site in Shandon for a Mary Harris (Mother Jones) statue, Cllr Kenneth Collins. Council reply: Once a site is found, the Arts Office will assess it under the forthcoming Public Art Policy; funding would have to be found outside existing budgets.

Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.21

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Asked who authorised replacing the approved roundabout at Barrett's Cross, Lehenaghmore, with a T-junction, and why councillors and the public were not consulted, Cllr Albert Deasy. Council reply: The Part 8 approval treated the junction as interim pending nearby development, with a signalised junction to follow; the design meets standards and has had independent safety audits. The scheme is due to finish in the coming months.

Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.19

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Asked whether development contributions from the Creamfields scheme on Tramore Road will be ring-fenced for pedestrian access to Tramore Valley Park, Cllr Fiona Kerins. Council reply: No: the 609-home SHD (ABP-312866-22) pays general contributions into a city-wide fund. A feasibility study for a walking and cycling link from Kinsale Road to the park is being prepared; a consultant is expected in the first half of next year, subject to NTA funding.

Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.18

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Legal advice sought on whether the Knockfree/Knockpogue active travel scheme can be changed to keep the mature trees on Knockfree Avenue without a new Part 8, Cllr Tony Fitzgerald. Council reply: The €7m NTA-funded scheme is about 60% built. Only non-material changes are allowed after Part 8 approval. Tree removals rose from 10 to 22 after parking requests; a shared-space layout would still need removals or less parking.

Cork City Council, Full Council minutes, 14 Sep 2026, p.13

Raised at Full Council, 14 Sep: Review of the traffic lights on Lavitt's Quay at the Opera House and the removed right turn onto Christy Ring Bridge, given morning-peak queues, Cllr Colm Kelleher. Council reply: The changes came with the MacCurtain Street public transport scheme (CMATS). A wider city-centre traffic review will come with BusConnects design; the Mobility Management Centre monitors junctions on a saturated network.
