Mongolian couple avoid jail for using fake passport documents
Summary
At the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Naranbat Ganbat (37), Altankhundaga Badrakh (37), and Gantulga Turbayan (42) pleaded guilty to providing false documentation when applying for an Irish passport on a date unknown between July 23, 2015 and August 12, 2015. The same offence was also alleged on the basis that they were reckless. The case was at the sentence stage. Ganbat was sentenced to a three-year suspended sentence, with the condition that he keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The case was brought to light through Operation Porcelain, a garda operation investigating the issuing of Irish passports to non-nationals using false documentation.
