Summary

A 30-year-old man from Sligo is to stand trial for murder at the Central Criminal Court in November 2018 following the discharge of a jury that could not reach a verdict. Keith Brady of Cartron Estate is charged with the murder of a 59-year-old musician on 2nd or 3rd August 2015 at New Apartments on Holborn Street, Sligo. Mr Brady has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter. The State rejected the manslaughter plea, and the case proceeded to trial at the Central Criminal Court. After nine days of evidence and several hours of deliberation, the jury was unable to reach agreement and was discharged. Justice Patrick McCarthy fixed a new trial date of 19th November 2018.
