A forensic scientist told the Special Criminal Court that DNA matching Kevin Lunney and one of the accused men was found in a Renault Kangoo van examined in October 2019. Dr Edward Connolly of Forensic Science Ireland used luminol to detect blood on the vehicle's interior, identifying a profile matching Mr Lunney on the sliding door and another matching accused man Darren Redmond on metal bars behind the driver's seat. The prosecution alleges the van was used by three of the accused to travel to and from Cavan on the day of the abduction. DNA matching Mr Lunney was also recovered from a horse trailer at a yard in Drumbrade, County Cavan, owned by accused man Luke O'Reilly. Four men have pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm to Mr Lunney on September 17th, 2019. The trial is ongoing at the Special Criminal Court before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and two judges.
