At the Special Criminal Court in Dublin, one of four men accused of abducting and assaulting Quinn Industrial Holdings director Kevin Lunney has been heard refusing to answer key questions during garda interviews. The accused man, identified as YZ for legal reasons, replied "no comment" when asked to explain CCTV footage showing him driving a van in which blood matching Mr Lunney's DNA was later discovered. He denied involvement in the September 2019 abduction at Drumbrade, County Cavan, and denied inflicting injuries on Mr Lunney with a Stanley knife and wooden bat. YZ, along with Alan O'Brien, Darren Redmond, and Luke O'Reilly, has pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm. Detective Sergeant Peter Woods outlined the circumstantial evidence against YZ, including the presence of a motorway toll tag from a vehicle linked to the abduction found in his apartment. The trial continues before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and two other judges.
