A bench warrant has been issued at the Central Criminal Court for a Sligo woman who breached the conditions of her suspended sentence. Janice Brady, aged 29, had been sentenced to four years imprisonment in November 2019 after pleading guilty to impeding the prosecution of her brother for murder. She had been required to reside with her father in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, and maintain contact with the Probation Service regarding her whereabouts. The court heard that Brady moved to a Dublin bed-and-breakfast in March without notifying her probation officer and has since been charged with 32 offences, predominantly shoplifting allegations in Dublin. Evidence indicated she is currently sleeping rough. Justice Michael White, who had previously warned Brady of potential re-imprisonment for non-compliance, issued the warrant. Brady had approximately ten months remaining of her original sentence at the time of the hearing.
