A woman from Sligo who received a suspended sentence for obstructing the prosecution of her brother in connection with a murder has been cautioned by the Central Criminal Court regarding compliance with probation conditions. Janice Brady appeared before the court on Wednesday following concerns that she had failed to notify the Probation Service of a change of residence. Brady was sentenced in November to four years imprisonment, with the balance suspended on condition she reside with her father in Ballyshannon, County Donegal. A probation officer informed the court that Brady was believed to be living in temporary accommodation in Dublin without having notified the service. Detective Sergeant Martin McHale confirmed Brady had remained clear of further involvement with gardaí since her sentence was suspended. Mr Justice White warned that failure to maintain contact with the Probation Service regarding her address would result in her return to custody. Brady had pleaded guilty in 2017 to impeding the apprehension or prosecution of her brother, Keith, who was convicted of murdering musician Martin Kivlehan in Sligo in 2015.
