Two men from County Sligo have been charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army. Damhan McFadden, aged 27, of Kilmacowen, Ballysodare, and Julian Flohr, aged 35, of Rusheen Ard, Caltra, appeared at an out-of-term sitting of the Special Criminal Court on Tuesday following their arrest. Both men were apprehended in Sligo on 14 August and made no reply when cautioned by gardaí. The court heard evidence regarding their detention and the presentation of charges. Mr Justice Tony Hunt, presiding with Judges Sinead Ni Chulachain and William Hamill, remanded both defendants in custody pending their next appearance.
