Man who denied assaulting bouncers has his case dismissed

Summary

In a Swords nightclub incident on 25 November 2012, Cillian Mahoney (22) was charged with assault causing harm to security staff Craig Hand and Igor Chachotail. Hand, supervising a 21st birthday party, reported that Mahoney, allegedly smashing glasses, became agitated, was restrained, and eventually punched Hand in the nose, causing a broken septum and requiring stitches. Garda Laura Mahon noted Mahoney was unsteady, slurred, and claimed excessive vodka consumption, admitting he did not remember the night. Judge Dermot Dempsey, after reviewing evidence and CCTV, found Feeney's testimony unreliable and dismissed both assault charges against Mahoney. The case concluded with no convictions. Cillian Mahoney pleaded not guilty.
