Summary

A 31‑year‑old man, Kamal El Habsati, was found dead in his Dublin apartment on 5 December 2012 with a knife protruding from his chest and 21 stab wounds, described by the court as a case of overkill. His employer had reported him missing after several days of absence, and his flatmate, Jacky Lumi, a 42‑year‑old Dutch man who had left the country by the time of the discovery, later told Gardaí that he had stabbed El Habsati following a dispute over bills.
