Child porn accused asks to be put in custody over threat fears
Summary
Liam Corr, 21, who was granted bail in April for possession and distribution of child pornography, has requested to be remanded in custody due to fears for his life. His barrister, Sandra Frayne, told the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that Corr, staying in a hostel, heard something that made him feel he was in imminent danger and had nowhere else to go. The court agreed to remand him until his sentencing on 26 June. Corr's mother had previously banned him from using a smartphone after she discovered 28 pornographic files, including images of under‑age girls and bestiality. He pleaded guilty to the offences between 26 July 2015 and 13 August 2014. He has no prior convictions. The case was prosecuted by Caroline Cummings BL, with the Director of Public Prosecutions having previously dropped a case against him. The Probation Service assessed him as low to moderate risk of re‑offending and recommended psychological help.
