Summary
In a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court hearing, four former Anglo Irish Bank senior bankers—Willie McAteer, Denis Casey, Peter Fitzpatrick and John Bowe—were accused of conspiring to mislead investors by using interbank loans to manipulate Anglo's balance sheet between 1 March and 30 September 2008. Witness Matt Moran, Anglo's former CFO, testified that the accounts did not link the €7.2 bn deposits to the bank's funding figures, and that a note indicating the linkage would have been beneficial. The trial, presided over by Judge Martin Nolan, is set to continue until May.
